Ever wanted to spend the night in pop star Avril Lavigne's bedroom? Got 600 grand? The biggest cultural export in the history of Napanee is selling her Toronto home. The asking price of $599,000 buys more than 222 square metres of prime Cabbagetown property in the form of a three-storey attached house with a Jacuzzi tub, private garage and state-of-the-art alarm systems. But 39 Broadcast Lane's imminent change of hands also represents a departure for one of the country's biggest stars. Lavigne and her fiance, Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, own a home in Los Angeles' ultra-rich Bel-Air neighbourhood.
Ivanka Trump has boardroom duty in next week's Apprentice. The 24-year-old former model, now vice-president of real estate development at the Trump Organization, will join her father and first-season winner Bill Rancic to decide which Apprentice wannabe will be fired. She is to appear in five episodes of the popular reality show's fifth cycle, filling in when judge Carolyn Kepcher is out of town, said an NBC representative. In next week's episode, The Donald's daughter will assign contestants a tough task: persuading New Yorkers to send text messages as part of an ad campaign. The team with the most messages wins.
Kid Rock blames Scott Stapp for losing a sex video showing them with several strippers, but appreciates Stapp for one thing. "What perfect timing," Rock said Wednesday. "I got a record coming up. . . . Maybe I should thank him." The hard-partying rap-rocker, whose new live concert album, Live Trucker, hit stores Tuesday, defended his backstage antics, saying, "It's not any big revelation that this goes on in rock 'n' roll, especially with who I am." Still, Rock (aka Robert Ritchie) has fired back against Stapp's claim that the tape was stolen, saying the former Creed singer filmed the tape, which was made in Rock's motor home in 1999 and is responsible for losing it. "He's the idiot because it's out," said Rock, 35. "I'm holding him responsible."
